Toshiyuki Kumagai is a young upcoming Japanese classical guitarist. Kumagai studied with Harumichi Saito, Hiromi Sato und Gentaro Takada. He graduated from Showa College of Music with special prize. Then he moved to Vienna and studied with Prof. Alvaro Pierri at University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Kumagai has been a laureate of lots of both domestic and international competitions. He has performed as a solo guitarist and also played in chamber music mainly around Europe (Austria,Norway and Spain) and Japan. He was invited as a guest duo member for Alvaro Pierri’s concert at Lichtenstein Guitar festival 2010. Released 1st CD “Sonata ~omaggio a boccherini~” (special recommended prize by Japanese CD magazine) in 2012. Toshiyuki Kumagai is known for his excellently beautiful tone and his interpretation.2nd prize at Tokyo International Guitar competition 2007 (Japan).3rd prize and special prize for Catalonian contemporary music at Miguel Llobet Guitar competition 2010 (Spain).2nd prize at Antony Guitar competition 2013 (France)
